The year 2026 will commemorate 50 years since Native Hawaiians and the people of Hawai‘i first landed on the island and began the struggle for the return of Kaho‘olawe. In targeting this milestone anniversary, the Kaho‘olawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC), Protect Kaho‘olawe ‘Ohana (PKO) and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) have joined together to create a collaborative plan for the preservation, restoration and protection of Kaho'olawe through 2026.
A work in progress, the I OLA KANALOA (life to Kanaloa!) plan relies on your mana' in order to best represent a shared vision for the future of Kaho'olawe. Please use this site to learn about upcoming meetings, to share your vision or to gain information about the process.
